Zamakona Launches Siuana Arctica

Spanish shipbuilding and ship repair company Zamakona Yards reached a new milestone with the launching of the first of two new 69-meter reefer vessels to be built for the Greenlandic shipowner Royal Arctic Line A/S. Launching will take place February 4.The vessel will be named as Siuana Arctica and will replace the existing vessel Pajuttaat built in 1979. Conceptual design is being carried out by the Norwegian company Havyard Design & Solutions.The ship is designed to operate in northwest Greenland and have greater capacity than current ship. SENER, ESI Group to Integrate Solutions

The global company ESI Group, a virtual prototyping and testing software developer, has joined efforts with SENER, a company in marine engineering and the development of CAD/CAM system for the shipbuilding industry, with the aim of marketing and integrating their respective solutions, IC.IDO and FORAN. Nowadays shipbuilding is dominated by vessels with highly complex and sophisticated designs. SENER to Exhibit FORAN V80 Version at 1st Baltic FORAN Day

Hin Lee Shipyard Selects FORAN System

The SENER engineering and technology Group has signed a contract with the company Hin Lee Shipyard Co., Ltd. in Zhuhai, China, for the implementation of the shipbuilding CAD/CAM System FORAN, developed by SENER. After the evaluation of different ship design CAD/CAM systems, the shipyard has finally selected FORAN because its excellent functionalities, which cover all design stages from conceptual design to production design. The scope of the contract includes the installation of the FORAN System, including the Hull Forms, General Arrangement & Naval Architecture, Hull Structure, Automatic Nesting, Machinery & Outfitting, Electrical Design, Build Strategy and Drafting.

Chinese Shipyard DSIC Acquires FORAN

The SENER engineering and technology Group has signed a contract with the Chinese shipyard Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co. Ltd. (DSIC) for the implementation of the shipbuilding CAD/CAM System FORAN, developed by SENER. DSIC is operated under the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC), which is a public company that has been listed on the stock market.   The license contract has been signed between SENER, DSIC and SENER´s partner in China, United Force Corporation. The scope of the contract includes the installation of permanent licenses of the FORAN System in different disciplines including hull forms and naval architecture, hull structure, machinery and outfitting, electrical design and drafting.

SENER Signs a Contract with ASC for FORAN

The SENER engineering and technology Group has signed a contract with Australian shipbuilder ASC for the implementation of the shipbuilding CAD/CAM System FORAN, developed by SENER, to be used as the software tool in the stability calculations supporting the construction of the Air Warfare Destroyers (AWD) conducted by the Air Warfare Destroyer Alliance. The execution of this contract began with an initial training in the Naval Architecture Module of FORAN, which took place at the Maritime Skills Centre at Techport Australia.

Eastern Shipbuilding Group (ESG), a shipbuilder based in Panama City, Fla., is due to launch the HARVEY SUB-SEA in November 6, marking the launch of the shipyard’s first vessel designed with the FORAN CAD/CAM System developed by the engineering and technology group SENER. The newly built multipurpose support vessel (MPSV) is the first of a series of two with a length of 103.7 meters, beam of 22.3 meters and depth of 8.92 meters. It is regulated by ABS/USCG/SOLAS DP2 DE Z-Drive MPSV and will operate in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico for HARVEY Gulf International Marine.

The new version is fully compatible with the previous ones and includes improvements in all of its modules. BAE Systems Awards Software Contract to SENER

The Spanish company SENER, Ingeniería y Sistemas S.A has closed a contract with U.K.-based BAE Systems PLC for the integration between FORAN CAD/CAM System and PTC’s Windchill PLM System to be used in the design and manufacturing activities of Type 26 Program. According to the contract, FORAN-Windchill Integration (FWI) will be implemented in BAE Systems Naval Ships in Scotstoun and Portsmouth. FWI is being deployed following a phased approach. At  Sinaval-Eurofishing in Bilbao, Spain, Sener will present enhancements in the shipbuilding CAD/CAM system FORAN, in all disciplines (forms, naval architecture and general arrangement, hull structure, machinery and outfitting, electrical design and drafting). SENER holds a FORAN seminar in Wuhan, China

The ‘FORAN new modules, new functions and FEM-Link (Hypermesh) Seminar’ was held on April 23rd in Wuhan. SENER is playing a big role in China, where it has been promoting the FORAN System for many years.Through the seminar, important new enhancements in its shipbuilding CAD/CAM System FORAN, SENER (Shanghai) hopes to bolster confidence of existing customers and arouse more interest among the potential customers for FORAN system. Xinlin Zhou presented the FORAN FGA/FBASIC modules, functions and hull capabilities of new release V70R3.0. The paper introduced general arrangement drawings using FGA modules and naval architecture calculations using FBASIC module.

GONDAN Delivers PSV Designed with FORAN

FORAN was the shipbuilding CAD/CAM System used in the design and production of the vessel Stril Luna, built by Astilleros Gondán and delivered to the Norwegian shipowner Simon Møkster Shipping. Stril Luna, an offshore platform supply vessel (PSV), will navigate in northern waters of the North Sea, charter operated by Statoil. With the basic design developed by Rolls Royce Marine, named as project UT 776 WP, the vessel has a length of 91.7 meters, a beam of 20 meters and it is prepared with the most innovative technology for navigating in extreme conditions.
