ABS Signs On Suez Canal's Green Program

First CA Port Joins Green Marine

The Port of Hueneme, ranked in the top 11% of all U.S. Ports for general cargo flow has signed on as a participant in Green Marine, the largest voluntary environmental program for the maritime industry in North America. The announcement was made November 23rd by Jess Herrera, President of the Oxnard Harbor District’s Board of Harbor Commissioners. Green Marine’s environmental program makes it possible for ports, terminal operators and shipping lines to voluntarily reduce their environmental footprint through a comprehensive program that addresses key environmental issues and criteria using 11 performance indicators including air emissions, community impacts, environmental leadership and much more.

Renewable Energy Battery Solutions Ready for Ships

A range of marine battery solutions has received approval for use on-board ships or marine related applications such as offshore platforms and renewable energy projects. Now available from Eco Marine Power (EMP), a developer of renewable energy solutions for ships, in cooperation with storage batteries and electrical machinery manufacturer Furukawa Battery Company of Japan, the battery range has been accepted for use on classed vessels by ClassNK (Nippon Kaiji Kyokai) in addition to having been evaluated by EMP.

Port of LA to Start Yusen Terminal Improvements

The Port of Los Angeles will begin construction this summer on a two-year project to improve the marine container terminal operated by Yusen Terminals LLC. Belgium's Mega Wind Farm Starts to Take Shape

Belgium, in the Antwerp port area on the left bank of the Scheldt. In the first phase 15 wind turbines will be erected, enough to supply 35,000 Flemish households with green electricity. The ultimate ambition is to build anything from 40 to 50 turbines.
