Rem Offshore Places Order for Next-Gen Subsea Construction Vessel

Container Shipping Fleet gets 'Long in the Tooth'
Global container ship fleet is showing its age, reaching highest average age on record of 14.2 years.âContainer ships have reached their highest average age yet at 14.2 years, the highest average age of the three main shipping sectors. The dry bulk fleet has an average age of 11.9 years whereas tankers on average are 12.8 years old,â says Niels Rasmussen, Chief Shipping Analyst at BIMCO.The average age of the container fleet has increased 4.3 years during the past 13 years with the average age hitting a recent low of 9.9 years in August 2010.

ABB's Power, Propulsion, and Automation for Samskip's Hydrogen-powered Container Ships
ABB has won a contract to deliver a power, propulsion, and automation system for two new-built short-sea container ships for Rotterdam-based global logistics company Samskip Group.According to ABB, the vessels will be among the worldâs first of their kind to use hydrogen as a fuel. Financial details of the contract were not disclosed. Built by India-based Cochin Shipyard, the 135-meter ships are due for delivery in Q3 and Q4 of 2025, respectively.
