Novoship Celebrates 50th Anniversary
On January 19-20, 2017 Novorossiysk Shipping Company (Novoship), a subsidiary of SCF Group, hosted special events dedicated to the company’s 50th anniversary. The anniversary ceremony was attended by Victor Olersky, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, Head of the Federal Marine and River Transport Agency (Rosmorrechflot); Alexey Kondratenko, Member of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation; Evgeniy Moskvichev, Chairman of the State Duma Transport Committee; Alexey Klyavin, President of the Russian Chamber of Shipping; Yury Sukhorukov, President of the Seafarers’ Union of Russia, and Sergey Frank, President & CEO of PAO Sovcomflot. Novorossiysk Shipping Company was officially established on January 20, 1967.
Russia Launches ‘World’s Largest’ Nuclear Icebreaker
Russia has unveiled Arktika, touted as the world’s largest and most powerful nuclear icebreaker, during a launching ceremony on June 16 at Baltic Shipyard in St Petersburg. The 173 meter long, 34 meter wide Arktika is the lead nuclear icebreaker ordered by Russia's Rosatom state nuclear agency for navigation through the Northern Sea Route, and more specifically the delivery of hydrocarbons to Asian markets. “There are no analogs of the icebreaker such as the Arktika in the world,” said Rosatom CEO Sergey Kirienko at the launching ceremony.
OPK Shipyards Delivers New Icebreaker
United Industrial Corporation (OPK) shipyards have delivered a diesel electric line icebreaker "St. Petersburg" to Rosmorport (Russian Maritime Port). A solemn ceremony of the signing of the takeover certificate and making the colors of the Russian Federation on the icebreaker was held at the Baltiysky Zavod plant, a part of OPK. The participants of this ceremony were Vladimir Putin, Prime-Minister of the Russian Federation, Igor Levitin, Russian Minister of transportation, Valentino Matvienko, the Governor of St. Petersburg, Sergey Pugachev and Lyudmila Narusova, members of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Alexander Gnusarev, OPK Chairman of the Management Board, Andrey Fomichev, CEO of the Baltiysky Zavod plant.
