Metal Shark Receives Presidential Award for Exports

Louisiana-based shipbuilder Metal Shark has been selected to receive the President’s “E” Award for Exports, the highest recognition any U.S. entity can receive for making a significant contribution to the expansion of U.S. exports.“Metal Shark’s achievements have undoubtedly contributed to national export expansion efforts that support the U.S. economy and create American jobs. The ‘E’ Awards Committee was very impressed with Metal Shark’s phenomenal growth in export sales over the past four years,” said U.S.

DNV GL’s Ellen Crivella Named 2016 Rising Star by Women of Wind Energy

DNV GL’s Ellen Crivella was honored with the 2016 Rising Star Award at the Women of Wind Energy (WoWE) luncheon at the 2016 AWEA Windpower Conference and Exhibition. Each year, the Rising Star Award recognizes a woman relatively new to wind energy who has already made significant professional contributions and shown unusual talent, dedication and innovation in their wind industry work. As DNV GL’s global head of practice for environmental and permitting services, Ellen has been involved in the siting, permitting and financing of over 10,000 MW of renewable energy projects. Ellen has recruited key talent and quickly established DNV GL as an expert advisor in avian and other wildlife issues for wind power.

OTC Names 2015 Award Recipients

The 2015 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), to be held May 4–7 at NRG Park, will kick off on Sunday, May 3 in Houston with the Annual OTC Dinner to honor the recipients of this year’s Distinguished Achievement Awards, this year recognizing Elmer (Bud) Danenberger III for individual achievement, the Petrobras pre-salt development for corporate achievement, and Ray R. Ayers with the Heritage Award. Th eOTC Distinguished Achievement Award for Individuals will honor Elmer (Bud) Danenberger III for his contributions to offshore safety and environmental protection.

NMEA Awards Top Electronic Makers

Marine electronics experts named 11 products in nine categories as winners of the 2014 NMEA Product Awards. Once again, Furuno USA was named Manufacturer of the Year--Support. The winners were announced at the National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) International Marine Electronics Conference & Expo, held October 8-11 at the Sanibel Harbour Marriott in Fort Myers, Florida. Category winners are chosen by regional panels of NMEA members from around the country, hand picked by the NMEA Awards Committee for their extensive knowledge of marine electronics to create a level playing field for all product and manufacturer support nominations. "We want to congratulate all of the award recipients," said NMEA Managing Director Mark Reedenauer.

ClassNK's Ueda Earns Global Lifetime Achievement Award

ClassNK Chairman and President Noboru Ueda was honored with the Global Lifetime Achievement Award at the Shipping Marine and Ports 2014 Leadership & Excellence Awards on February 10, 2014 in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the development of the maritime industry. The awards ceremony is held every two years by Jasubhai Media in conjunction with the SMP World Expo to recognize excellence in such fields as innovation, safety, and education within the maritime industry. The awards ceremony was held at the Lalit Hotel in Mumbai, and was attended by 160 representatives from throughout the Indian and global maritime industry.

Alewijnse Project Wins KNVTS Ship of the Year Award 2013

Alewijnse Marine Systems celebrated their involvement in the success of the award-winning 'LNG Greenstream' waterway tankship at the recent 16th KNVTS Maritime Awards Gala held in The Netherlands. Alewijnse say that the 110m 'Greenstream' is the first commercial inland vessel to use LNG‐electric propulsion. The vessel was built by Peters Shipyards, Kampen, and Alewijnse was responsible for the entire electrical installation on board, including the systems that control and regulate the LNG‐fuelled generators.

Inland Awards Conferred in Paducah

The Seamen’s Church Institute (SCI), organized the 12th Annual River Bell Awards Luncheon in Paducah, KY on Thursday, December 8, 2011. The awards paid tribute to three individuals whose labors have significantly enriched America’s waterways. A crowd of 335 joined SCI’s River Bell Awards committee in commending the work of Joseph H. Pyne, Chairman & CEO of Kirby Corporation; Eddie Conrad; and RADM Mary E. Landry (ret), former Commander of the United States Coast Guard 8th District. Sea Tow Presents Awards during 28th Annual Meeting

Sea Tow Services International, the world’s largest professional marine assistance organization, welcomed Rear Admiral William Baumgartner, the Coast Guard’s 7th District Commander, and Captain David McBride, the U.S. Coast Guard’s Chief of Search of Rescue, to its annual awards ceremony and dinner on Dec. 2, 2010, as part of the company’s 28th Annual Meeting held Dec. 1-3, 2010, in Delray Beach, Fla. Together with Capt. Joe Frohnhoefer, Sea Tow’s founder/CEO, RADM Baumgartner and CAPT McBride presented eight Sea Tow captains with Awards for Efforts Above and Beyond. RADM Baumgartner also presented the Sea Tow captains with his challenge coin, a military honor rooted in the U.S. Navy that acknowledges the receiver’s courage, strength, leadership and commitment to duty.

Awards for Crowley at Workboat Show

During the recent Workboat Show, Crowley was recognized for its environmental initiatives, receiving second place for the Environmental Management Plan Award. The company was also awarded a Significant Boat of 2009 Award for the Nachik/Sesok. The environmental award was developed to recognize businesses and government agencies operating in the U.S. maritime industry that have successfully incorporated environmentally sustainable practices into their operations. The awards committee was comprised of industry, environmental, regulatory and media representatives.

Drydocks World – Dubai Wins Award

Drydocks World - Dubai, a ship repair, conversion and new building yard and flagship company of Drydocks World, won the Shipbuilding/Shiprepair Award at the Lloyd’s List Middle East and Indian Subcontinent Awards 2009 for the fifth consecutive year. In addition, Nawal Saigal, Managing Director, Drydocks World - Dubai, was named Personality of the Year for his strategic positioning of the shipyard, advocating investment and seizing opportunity in the downturn. The awards committee, comprising marine industry veterans, highlighted that these factors have helped Drydocks World - Dubai achieve a consistent performance and have boosted the morale of the marine industry in the UAE.

Executive Director of MITAGS and PMI, to Receive Achievement Award

The Kings Point Alumni Foundation Board of Directors will bestow upon two (2) MITAGS’ directors, the current incumbent Glen Paine (’78), and his predecessor, Charles (Chuck) Pillsbury (’68), the Outstanding Professional Achievement Award at the annual Alumni Banquet Dinner. This award is made to alumni of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy or the Cadet Corps on any of their five-year anniversaries. A&P Birkenhead Scoops “European Shiprepair & Conversion Specialist 2003” Accreditation

Subsequent to an extensive research and selection process, the awards committee at the Institute of Transport Management has decided to present A&P Birkenhead with the “European Shiprepair & Conversion Specialist 2003” accreditation. All major European Shiprepair Companies were canvassed, and this accolade is a true testament to the outstanding company that is A&P Birkenhead. The ever-increasingly popular ITM Awards Programme took place once again, and entailed the canvassing of its members in the Marine sector. The programme was piloted in 1995 and was designed to recognise advances within the Marine sector over the previous 12 months.
