Dubai: New Drydocks Record

Drydocks World, the international service provider to the shipping, offshore, oil, gas and energy sectors, handled 37 projects simultaneously in the Dubai yard, exceeding the previous record of 35 vessels. “Since January 2015 Drydocks World has increased the rate of vessel completion, with 33 per cent more vessels leaving the yard in March,” the company press release said. Drydocks World’s 37 projects include dredgers, rigs, gas carriers, tankers and container ships, which are being repaired and refitted for clients such as Chevron Shipping, Technip, Saudi Aramco, Shelf Drilling, Saipem, the National Drilling Company, Excelerate Energy and Aban Offshore.

Record Rig Berthing at Drydocks World

Drydocks World, the international service provider to the shipping, offshore, oil, gas and energy sectors, have simultaneously berthed 11 rigs in the Dubai yard, breaking its record of nine rigs at the yard set in February this year. Clients contributing to the record include Saipem, Saudi Aramco, Shelf Drilling, Aban Offshore and the National Drilling Company. Drydocks World said it has focused its efforts to cater to the offshore market and rig requirements through establishing a dedicated rig division which has worked to market the yard facilities…

Venezuela Considers Restarting Caribbean Natural Gas Drilling

According to a June 26 report from Reuters, Venezuela is studying offers to restart drilling at an offshore natural gas well in the Caribbean Sea after an exploration platform sank there last month, the country's state-run oil company PDVSA said. The Aban Pearl rig, built by India's Aban Offshore Limited, was drilling 150 km from Venezuela's northeastern coast when it vanished beneath the waves without fatalities or immediate environmental damage. Keppel Delivers 5th Aban Jackup Rig

On Feb. 6, Keppel FELS Limited announced that it successfully delivered the jackup drilling rig, Deep Driller 8, to Aban Singapore Pte Ltd (Aban) on time, within budget and without incidents. Deep Driller 8 is the fifth unit to be delivered in a series of five KFELS Super B Class rigs for Aban since 2006. The rig has been completed with a clean safety record. The KFELS Super B Class design is one of the world’s deepest drilling rigs, with capabilities for drilling high pressure, high temperature wells up to 35,000 ft at 350 ft water depth.

Aban Offshore leases drilling rig to Husky Oil

Oilfield services firm Aban Offshore said it has entered into an agreement with Husky Oil for leasing its jack up rig for a drilling operation in China.    The three-month contract would yield an estimated revenue of $38.70 million (Rs 178 crore) for Aban Offshore, the filing added.  The rig as per the new contract would be deployed in the first quarter of 2009.  Shares of Aban Offshore were trading at Rs 2,200, down by 5.32 per cent in the afternoon trade on the BSE.   Source:  Business Standard

American Electric Technologies Powers Growing Indian Energy Market

American Electric Technologies, Inc., announced two projects with Aban Offshore Limited of . Aban Offshore is 's largest offshore private drilling contractor and their twenty offshore drilling and production units places Aban among the top ten offshore drilling asset owners in the world. The contracts total just under $2m. The scope of supply for the Aban VII and the Aban III jack-up retrofit projects include a complete new custom-designed, state-of-the-art, M&I Electric power and electrical system upgrade. These projects also provide for generator control and distribution switchgear systems as well as SCR drives and motor control systems. A customized driller control and mud pump console is also part of the customized upgrade package.
