Regulator Lays Charges Over 2018 Canada Oil Spill

The Canada-Newfoundland Offshore Petroleum Board said on Tuesday that it has laid three charges following a 2018 oil spill off Canada's Atlantic Coast.The board said it laid the charges against Husky Oil Operations Limited for the spill in the White Rose Field. Cenovus Energy has since then acquired Husky.A leaking flowline from the White Rose Field to the SeaRose floating production, storage and offloading unit spilled 250 cubic meters (1,572 barrels) of oil in November, 2018, temporarily shutting down all crude production in the waters of Newfoundland and Labrador.Last month, Cenovus struck a deal with Suncor Energy to decrease its stake in White Rose and raise Suncor's ownership…

Ocean Installer Wins First Contract in China

Exxon Selling Stake in Terra Nova Oil Project

Exxon Mobil Corp is selling its entire stake in the Terra Nova oil project off the eastern coast of Canada, though the world's largest publicly traded oil producer said it was committed to remaining an investor in the region. The project, located about 217 miles (350 km) off Newfoundland and Labrador, produced about 5,000 barrels of oil per day in 2016. Exxon is selling all of its 19 percent stake in the project and initial bids are due March 30, according to data and a document from Schlumberger's oil and gas asset sale business.

Dockwise Bags Marine Transport Contracts Worth $50 Mln

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. said its wholly-owned subsidiary Dockwise has recently been awarded a number of marine transport contracts with a combined contract value of approximately $50 million. Dockwise was awarded a contract by Husky Oil Operations Ltd. for the transportation of the West White Rose Topside from Texas, U.S. to Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The contract includes the engineering, preparation and execution of the loading, transport and discharge operation of the topside. The topside will be skidded onto a large barge, which in turn will be floated onto the semi-submersible heavy transport vessel Dockwise Vanguard that will transport the cargo to Newfoundland and Labrador. The transport is expected to take place in 2021.

Transocean's Henry Goodrich gets Two-years Deal

Transocean Ltd. announced today that the harsh-environment semisubmersible Henry Goodrich was awarded a two year contract with Husky Oil Operations Limited offshore Canada at a dayrate of $275,000. The estimated contract backlog excluding mobilization is $200 million. The rig is expected to commence operations in the second quarter of 2016. As of December 6, 2015, the company's contract backlog is approximately $16.8 billion.

Seadrill Cancels West Mira Construction Contract

Offshore drilling company Seadrill Limited said it has exercised its right to cancel the contract for the construction of the West Mira drilling unit following builder Hyundai Heavy Industries Co Ltd.’s inability to complete the project on deadline. West Mira, a sixth generation ultra-deepwater harsh environment semisubmersible drilling unit, was ordered during the second quarter of 2012 and was supposed to be delivered at or before December 31, 2014. “Due to the shipyard's inability to deliver the unit within the timeframe required under the contract, the company has exercised its cancellation rights,” Seadrill said in a press release.

Seadrill Advance Charter Out Semi-submersible 'West Mira'

Seadrill has received a Letter of Award from Husky Oil Operations Limited for a new five-year contract for the newbuild harsh environment semi-submersible rig West Mira for operations in Canada and Greenland. Total estimated revenue potential for the contract, including mobilization and performance bonus is approximately US$1.18 billion for the five firm years. The West Mira is currently under construction at the Hyundai Samho Shipyard in South Korea and delivery is scheduled for Q4 2014. Statoil: Securing More Rig Capacity

Statoil has signed a contract with North Atlantic Norway to hire the West Hercules rig which can be used for exploration and production drilling internationally and on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS). Statoil has signed an agreement with North Atlantic Norway Ltd (Norwegian Branch), a company in the Seadrill group, for hire of the West Hercules rig for use on exploration prospects and production licences. The semi-submersible rig will be deployed to start drilling from Q3 2012.

New E&C Offshore Contracts Worth Over $1 billion

Aban Offshore leases drilling rig to Husky Oil

Oilfield services firm Aban Offshore said it has entered into an agreement with Husky Oil for leasing its jack up rig for a drilling operation in China.    The three-month contract would yield an estimated revenue of $38.70 million (Rs 178 crore) for Aban Offshore, the filing added.  The rig as per the new contract would be deployed in the first quarter of 2009.  Shares of Aban Offshore were trading at Rs 2,200, down by 5.32 per cent in the afternoon trade on the BSE.   Source:  Business Standard

Technip Awarded Subsea Contract in Canada

Technip has been awarded by Husky Oil Operations Limited, a subsidiary of Husky Energy, a major engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning (EPIC) contract for the development of the White Rose oil field’s North Amethyst Satellite. The contract is worth approximately €190 million. It includes engineering, fabrication and installation of 23.7 kilometers of flexible flowlines(1) and 5.4 kilometers of umbilicals(2), the installation of manifolds and associated pipework. These include not only shuttle but drill ships, floating storage and offloading units (FSOs), with their derivative production types (FPSOs), crane ships, and various types of floating and fixed platforms. SHI Secures Order For FPSO

SHI received an order for a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) facility worth US$140 million from Husky Oil Operations Ltd. of Canada on the 31st. As a competitive solution for the development of offshore oil and gas resources capable of the production, storage and offloading of crude oil and gas, an FPSO is a special facility suitable for the development of a medium size deep-sea oil and gas field due to its mobility.The FPSO facility SHI received an order for from Husky Oil Operations Ltd. is of 133,000 tonsmeasuring 272m(L) x 46m(W) x 27m(D). Capable of storing 940,000 barrels, it will be producing maximum 120,000 barrels of crude oil per day from the end of 2004 at the Whit Rose oil field located approximately 350 kilometers off the east coast of Newfoundland, Canada.

Seadrill Secures Contract for West Hercules

Seadrill has been awarded a contract by Husky Oil China Ltd. on the Chinese continental slope for the deepwater semi-submersible drilling rig West Hercules. The contract has a firm duration of three years with estimated contract value of approximately $580m, including mobilization fee. West Hercules is currently under construction at Daewoo Shipyard in South Korea and is scheduled for delivery in the second quarter 2008.

CNOOC Signed First Deepwater Exploration Agreement

China National Offshore Oil Corporation ("CNOOC") inked a petroleum contract with Husky Oil China Limited for deepwater block 40/30 in the Pearl River Mouth Basin of the South China Sea. This is the first deepwater exploration contract signed between CNOOC and foreign petroleum companies since it announced the tendering of deepwater areas in September. A number of foreign companies are still studying the geological data of the 12 deepwater blocks in the South China Sea offered by CNOOC in this September. Block 40/30 is located about 100 kilometers southeast of Hainan Island in the Pearl River Mouth Basin. It covers a total area of about 6704 square kilometers with water depth between 600 to 1500 meters.
