Much Activity During Danish Maritime Days

Danish Maritime Days was well visited, and there were many participants and great enthusiasm at the more than 50 events. Attendance at the many events tells that the maritime days were successful.

Maritime VIPs at workshop in Nordhavnen
The flagship of Danish Maritime Days was the large international conference Danish Maritime Forum, which was held on 8-9 October at Docken in the northern part of Copenhagen Port. Here, the organizers had succeeded in gathering the absolute elite within the maritime field for debate and workshops about the future maritime challenges. After having been divided into small groups, political VIPs and CEOs rolled up their sleeves, got felt-tip pens in their hands and were asked to come up with specific ideas for forward-looking solutions – a format that was unaccustomed to many of the guests, but turned out to be a great success.

Well visited fair in Bella Center

As a part of Danish Maritime Days, the Danish Maritime Fair was held in the Bella Center, where more than 150 companies were represented – among these Thome Shipmanagement, A.P. Møller-Mærsk. The Danish Maritime Authority was also represented at the Fair and gave, inter alia, a presentation entitled “Come Fly the Danish Flag”, focusing on the advantageous Danish framework conditions and making it clear that it is not that difficult to fly the Danish quality flag.

The Danish Maritime Authority also focused on e-navigation – an issue that many visitors to the Fair were interested in knowing more about. In addition, the Danish Maritime Authority hosted a network meeting, where the future of e-navigation was debated – meetings that will also take place in the future.

Wide range of events

In addition to Danish Maritime Fair, Danish Maritime Days presented a wide range of events. The University of Aalborg, in cooperation with Ange Optimization and Mærsk Line, made it possible for the participants to play with LEGO containers, the M/S Maritime Museum of Denmark held a special opening, and the Danish Shipowners’ Association invited to a debate on corruption in the maritime industry – just to mention a couple of the many possibilities offered.

The Danish Maritime Authority itself held the event “Conference on the Seafarer as part of Global Quality Shipping” in cooperation with 3F, CO-SEA and the Danish Shipowners’ Association, just as the Danish Maritime Authority hosted an offshore event in Esbjerg and open ship on board Poul Løwenørn.

Great expectations of next year

Danish Maritime Days has been a success for the Danish Maritime Authority and for maritime Denmark at large, and it creates great expectations of next year’s Maritime Days.

“I am proud that we have succeeded in gathering a wide range of top executives in the maritime industry for Danish Maritime Days and the Danish Maritime Forum. It shows that Blue Denmark can take the lead in the debate on the challenges of the future, and I look forward to even more good discussions and events next year”, says Director General of the Danish Maritime Authority Andreas Nordseth.
