SBS Names Colter as VP Finance

Global transportation provider SBS Worldwide has appointed Certified Public Accountant Don Colter as Vice President of Finance, USA. In his new role, Mr. Colter is tasked with strengthening the financial function of the company’s US business to support its expanding service offering and new business opportunities in existing and target industry verticals. He will be based at SBS Worldwide’s Atlanta Corporate Headquarter office and will report directly to USA Managing Director Lars Kloch. Mr. Kloch said: “I would personally like to welcome Don to the SBS Worldwide team.

Wrong Directions: A Recipe for Failure

This U.S. Coast Guard safety alert addresses critical concerns uncovered during an ongoing marine casualty investigation and should be of vital interest to Ship Builders, Classification Societies, Owner / Operators and others involved with vessel operations. A machinery space fire onboard a relatively new vessel was effectively responded to and extinguished by the vessel’s quick response team firefighters using portable extinguishing equipment. However, before it was declared completely extinguished and approximately five hours after the fire started, the master of the vessel made the decision to release CO2 from the vessel’s fixed firefighting system. It failed to operate as designed.

Burger Boat Company – Monaco Celebrates Anniversary

One full year has passed since the Grand Opening of Burger Boat Company – Monaco. To celebrate the occasion, Burger hosted a reception for Monaco Captains in its belle époque office in the heart of Monaco. Information was shared on the current six projects currently underway at the shipyard in Manitowoc, Wis., including the 43m Tri-deck, Andrew Winch interior Sea Owl; the 47m Tri-deck, Vripack Interior Time For Us and the 44m traditionally-styled Fantail Cruiser, Ken Freivokh interior Sycara. Further discussion was given to the transformation at the renowned Burger Shipyard. In addition to the new 48,000 sq. ft. manufacturing complex that was completed in 2004, there is a new 43,000 sq. ft.
