KPI OceanConnect Concludes First Simultaneous LNG Bunkering Op

Singapore Convicts Nine in Southernpec Bunker Fuel Theft Case

Nine people have been sentenced in Singapore to up to three years in jail for cheating buyers out of $337,000 worth of shipping fuel, authorities said in a joint statement on Thursday.The group was found guilty of using industrial strength magnets to tamper with measuring equipment known as Mass Flow Meter (MFM) on board bunker tankers owned by a unit of marine fuel services provider Southernpec (Singapore) Pte Ltd, said the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), the Singapore Police Force and the Attorney-General’s Chambers.The tampering on board bunker tankers Southernpec 6 and Southernpec 7 allowed the group to record a higher volume of sales than what was actually delivered.Investigations revealed that between December 2018 and April 2019…

MPA Revokes Bunker Craft Licence of Inter-Pacific Petroleum

Singapore Suspends Inter-Pacific Petroleum's Bunker License

Singapore's Maritime Port Authority (MPA) has suspended the bunker craft operator licence of Inter-Pacific Petroleum Pte Ltd, the MPA said in a statement on Thursday.The MPA suspended the license, which allows Inter-Pacific to operate tankers used to load marine fuel, known as bunker fuel, onto ships, with effect from June 27 until further notice, the statement said.The license suspension occurred after "an enforcement check on a bunker tanker operated by Inter-Pacific Petroleum," the MPA said, without providing further details.The MPA did not immediately respond to requests for comment.Inter-Pacific could not be reached for comment…

Aegean to Acquire Verbeke Bunkering N.V.

Aegean Marine Petroleum Network Inc. (NYSE:ANW) announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire Verbeke Bunkering N.V., a physical supplier of marine fuel in the Antwerp-Rotterdam-Amsterdam (ARA) region, the world's second largest bunkering market. The acquisition, which is subject to the completion of detailed documentation, is scheduled to close by the end of the first quarter of 2010. Verbeke Bunkering is majority owned by the fourth generation of the Verbeke family, which has an operating history of more than 100 years initially in shipping and subsequently in bunkering. As a physical supplier, Verbeke Bunkering covers the entire ARA region, including key ports surrounding Antwerp, Rotterdam and Amsterdam such as Ghent, Zeebruges, Flushing, Terneuzen, and Sluiskil.

Aegean Acquires Double-Hull Tanker

Aegean Marine Petroleum Network Inc. (NYSE:ANW) announced on Jan. 15 that it has taken delivery of the Hana, a 1992-built 1,615 dwt double-hull bunkering tanker to be renamed the Ace Hana, following the company's agreement to purchase the vessel from an unrelated third party. The Ace Hana is expected to be deployed to the company's Greek market. E. Nikolas Tavlarios, President, commented, "With the strategic acquisition of the Ace Hana, Aegean has once again strengthened its position to capitalize on the regulatory phase-out of single-hull vessels and meet the unfulfilled demand for the Company's integrated marine fuel services. Our latest vessel will be deployed to our Greek market and serve the busy port of Piraeus, where the phase-out of single-hull vessels is now complete.
