The Maritime And Port Authority (MPA) of Singapore has stripped marine fuel services provider Inter-Pacific Petroleum (IPP) of its bunker craft operator licence in the port of Singapore, effective immediately.Inter-Pacific will not be allowed to operate tankers used to load marine fuel, known as bunker fuel, onto ships in the Port of Singapore, MPA says in a statement.As part of MPA’s ongoing efforts to ensure the integrity of bunkering in Singapore, checks were conducted on Inter-Pacific earlier this year.MPA’s checks and subsequent investigations revealed magnetic interference affecting measurements of bunkers supplied in numerous Mass Flow Meter readings across Inter-Pacific’s fleet of bunker tankers.Inter-Pacific had also failed to ensure that its employees…

Singapore's Maritime Port Authority (MPA) has suspended the bunker craft operator licence of Inter-Pacific Petroleum Pte Ltd, the MPA said in a statement on Thursday.The MPA suspended the license, which allows Inter-Pacific to operate tankers used to load marine fuel, known as bunker fuel, onto ships, with effect from June 27 until further notice, the statement said.The license suspension occurred after "an enforcement check on a bunker tanker operated by Inter-Pacific Petroleum," the MPA said, without providing further details.The MPA did not immediately respond to requests for comment.Inter-Pacific could not be reached for comment…

Aegean Marine Petroleum Network Inc. (NYSE:ANW) announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire Verbeke Bunkering N.V., a physical supplier of marine fuel in the Antwerp-Rotterdam-Amsterdam (ARA) region, the world's second largest bunkering market. The acquisition, which is subject to the completion of detailed documentation, is scheduled to close by the end of the first quarter of 2010. Verbeke Bunkering is majority owned by the fourth generation of the Verbeke family, which has an operating history of more than 100 years initially in shipping and subsequently in bunkering. As a physical supplier, Verbeke Bunkering covers the entire ARA region, including key ports surrounding Antwerp, Rotterdam and Amsterdam such as Ghent, Zeebruges, Flushing, Terneuzen, and Sluiskil.

Aegean Marine Petroleum Network Inc. (NYSE:ANW) announced on Jan. 15 that it has taken delivery of the Hana, a 1992-built 1,615 dwt double-hull bunkering tanker to be renamed the Ace Hana, following the company's agreement to purchase the vessel from an unrelated third party. The Ace Hana is expected to be deployed to the company's Greek market. E. World Fuel Servies Corporation announced the acquisition of Marine Energy, a marine fuel services company based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The acquisition gives World Fuel Services a greater presence in the world's second-largest marine fuel supply market. World Fuel Services provides fuel and services at more than 1,100 airports and seaports worldwide.
