Jacobs Bags Saudi Shipyard Contract

Wärtsilä Scrubbers for 6 Finnlines Vessels

Wärtsilä scrubber systems are selected for six modern Ro-Ro vessels of Finnlines.

With new, more stringent sulphur oxide (SOx) emission regulations due to take effect January 2015, Finnlines has ordered Wärtsilä Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems for six of its Baltic and North Sea fleet of vessels, Wärtsilä said. By selecting the scrubber systems, Wärtsilä said the vessels will be able to operate in compliance with the new environmental regulations while continuing to operate on heavy fuel oil. The systems will also operate in compliance with the water discharge criteria set by regulators.

Norway-based Oceanteam Shipping says it has exercised its option to buy the remaining 30% shares of KCI design engineers, a multi-discipline engineering company, employing over 150 engineers with offices in Schiedam, The Netherlands and Hamburg, Germany. Keppel Secures S$240M in Shipbuilding Contracts

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), through wholly-owned subsidiaries Keppel Shipyard Limited and Keppel Singmarine Pte Ltd, has clinched new contracts totalling S$240 million. These comprise the upgrading of a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel, the conversion of a livestock carrier, as well as the building of a diving support vessel. With these latest projects, the total value of new contracts secured by Keppel O&M in 2010 has edged up to S$3.2 billion. Mr Nelson Yeo, Managing Director (Marine) of Keppel O&M, said, "I would like to thank our customers for their confidence in the capabilities of the Keppel O&M group of companies. Aker Kvaerner Opens Subsea Manufacturing Center in Malaysia

Aker Kvaerner's multi-million dollar integrated subsea oil and gas centre in Malaysia was officially opened today, marking the successful conclusion of an ultra fast-track schedule to bring the facility on stream. Located in Port Klang Free Zone, Pulau Indah, Klang, the purpose-built manufacturing centre, with a total investment value of USD 100 million, is the first of its kind in the world. With a presence in Malaysia dating back some 20 years, Aker Kvaerner has provided design engineering services, local fabrication and project management consultancy for a range of clients in the offshore and onshore oil and gas industry over that time. Recently, the company has been building up capacity in the region.
