Philly Shipyard Chairman Requests to Step Down

Jim Miller, chairman of the Board of Directors of Philly Shipyard, has requested to step down from the board, to join the management team of Philly Shipyard, Inc. as Senior Advisor to the CEO.The Nomination Committee has nominated Kristian Rokke to return as Chairman of the Board.The remainder of the Board is proposed to remain unchanged, the shipbuilder said.Philly Shipyard was recently selected to build up to five new training ships for the U.S. maritime academies.

Philly Shipyard Wins Contract to Build US Training Ships

Philly Shipyard has been awarded a contract to build up to five National Security Multi-Mission Vessels (NSMV) that will enable at-sea training for America’s future mariners and support humanitarian assistance and disaster relief in times of need.TOTE Services, selected in May 2019 by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration (MARAD) as the vessel construction manager for the NSMV program, placed an initial order with Philly Shipyard for the first two vessels for delivery in Spring and Winter 2023…

Jim Miller Nominated Chairman of Philly Shipyard

Philly Shipyard ASA (Oslo: PHLY) announced that Jim Miller has been nominated to be Chairman of the Board of Directors of Philly Shipyard. Mr. Miller previously held this role from 2011 until 2014. This nomination is expected to be approved at an extraordinary general meeting on February 1, 2016.   Kristian Rokke, CEO of the Norwegian investment company Akastor, is stepping aside as Chairman of the Philly Shipyard Board. He remarked "I am very pleased that Jim has agreed to return as Chairman given his extensive leadership background and familiarity with Philly Shipyard."   The remainder of the Company's Board of Directors will remain unchanged and consists of Amy Humphreys, Elin Karfjell, and Audun Stensvold.

Aker Philadelphia Shipyard announces new CEO

Kristian Røkke has been appointed President and CEO of Aker Philadelphia Shipyard ASA (AKPS). He replaces Jim Miller who has been appointed Executive Vice President of Aker Contractors’ US Onshore Engineering & Construction business and member of Aker Contractors’ new Executive Management Team. Mr. Miller is also nominated for the position as Chairman of the Board at Aker Philadelphia Shipyard. Kristian Røkke will take over as President and CEO of the Yard effective April 5, 2011. Mr. Røkke is currently the Senior Vice President of Operations at Aker Philadelphia Shipyard and has been in key operating positions at the facility for the last 4 years.

Aker Philly Shipyard Build Methodologies Confirmed in Court Decision

In a decision filed by the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania has upheld the United States Coast Guard interpretation of the Jones Act as it relates to the modern building methods employed by Aker Philadelphia Shipyard. The decision rejected a lawsuit filed by the Metal Trades Department of the AFL-CIO.
