MacGregor Wins Orders from Europe

Teekay Gets Norway's 'Green' Funding for Tankers

The marine energy transportation company Teekay Offshore has secured long-term financing from the Norwegian Government for four new shuttle tankers being built at Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) in South Korea.The shuttle tankers are all equipped with a new innovative technology developed by the maritime supplier Wärtsilä in cooperation with Teekay, resulting in zero volatile organic compounds (VOC) emissions from the tankers.On behalf of the Norwegian Government, Export Credit Norway and GIEK have provided loan and guarantee of USD 165.5 million. The financing is part of a larger syndicate involving several commercial banks and a foreign export credit agency.

Summit Signs Floating LNG Facility Contract

Summit LNG Terminal, a subsidiary of Summit Power International, signed a USD 100 Million turnkey contract with marine work contractor consortium comprising of Geocean SAS and MacGregor for design, engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation and testing of the Fixed Infrastructure (FI) for its Floating LNG Storage and Regasification Terminal (FSRT) at Moheskhali, Cox’s Bazar. The project completion date is 16 months from the time of signing. The Fixed Infrastructure will consist, among others, of Disconnectable Turret Mooring (DTM) plug for FSRU vessel system with anchors (suction piles), flexible riser with floatation and tether system, control and hydraulic umbilical, PLEM, Stern Mooring System (SMS) of FSRU vessel offshore pipelines and landfall works.

MacGregor Inks Deal to Service Teekay Vessels

MacGregor has signed a five-year frame agreement with Teekay Shipping Ltd to provide spare parts, maintenance, training and project support for approximately 115 of Teekay's vessels. The agreement was signed during the second quarter of 2017, and will see MacGregor, part of Cargotec, provide spare parts, maintenance, training and project support for hatch covers, hose-handling cranes, general-purpose cranes, offshore mooring/loading systems, deck machinery winches, steering gear and compressors on board Teekay vessels. “The business relationship with Teekay goes back to Pusnes and Hatlapa brands with separate types of agreements. When discussions first took place it was clear there was a tremendous spread of installed base,” said Steve Goodchild, UK Branch Manager.

MacGregor's Pusnes Deck Machinery for Vale's New VLOCs

MacGregor has won Pusnes deck machinery orders for a new series of 400,000 dwt very large ore carriers (VLOCs) under construction at Chinese shipyard, Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Heavy Industries. The orders are booked in Cargotec's 2016 third quarter order intake.   MacGregor will deliver high-pressure hydraulically-operated deck machinery based on Pusnes designs. "The equipment is simple to operate, well-proven and known for its high-quality," says Esko Karvonen, Head of Smart Ocean Technology division at MacGregor. "For example, the windlasses are equipped with MacGregor's proven dual-motor installation, which ensures high capacity and reliability."   Construction of the Valemax vessels is part of an agreement between Brazilian mining company, Vale and the Chinese Government.

MacGregor Launches Compact Pusnes RamWindlass

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, continues to add to its market-leading Pusnes product range and its latest introduction is a Pusnes RamWindlass. The new windlass is based on a chain-jack design and employs similar technology used in MacGregor's successful range of Pusnes RamWinches. "The Pusnes RamWinch is well known in the industry for its compact size and low weight. It can be found on most of the spar platforms in the Gulf of Mexico and also on several other types of floating production units," says Torbjörn Rokstad, Director, MacGregor Pusnes Mooring Systems. Current RamWinch designs have a main cylinder that extends below the winch foundation plates to exert the stroke or 'jacking' movement and each stroke moves the chain two links at a time.

MacGregor Pusnes Loading Systems for Cosco Shipyard

By combining well-proven MacGregor Pusnes technology in bow loading and offloading systems, MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has helped to develop a solution that enables crude oil to be loaded directly from a floating production storage offloading (FPSO) facility or a floating storage offloading (FSO) unit to a conventional tanker, up to very large crude carrier (VLCC) size. The first contracts for the systems have been signed with China's Cosco Shipyard Group. Statoil Picks MacGregor Mooring Systems for Hywind

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has won an order for substructure connection mooring systems for the world's first floating offshore wind farm: Statoil's Hywind pilot park in Scotland. MacGregor will be responsible for the delivery of the Pusnes substructure mooring connection system for the pilot project's five floating wind turbines. Delivery of equipment is planned from the second through the fourth quarter of 2016 and installation of the wind turbines is scheduled for 2017. MacGregor's Pusnes bow loading systems for Suezmax Tankers

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has secured contracts to supply Pusnes bow loading systems for three newbuild shuttle tankers intended for operations in Brazilian waters. The order was booked into first quarter 2015 order intake. South Korean shipyard Sungdong Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co Ltd will install a Pusnes bow loading system on a 157,000 dwt Suezmax DP2 shuttle tanker under construction for tanker specialist Tsakos Energy and Navigation Ltd. The Greek headquartered company specified Pusnes loading systems for two earlier shuttle tankers, the Brasil 2014 and Rio 2016, both delivered in 2013. The other two systems will be installed on a pair of 156,000 dwt Suezmax shuttle tankers under construction at Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea for Knutsen NYK Offshore Tankers AS.

MacGregor Appoints 2 New VPs

MacGregor Signs Contract with Shell

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has signed a contract with Shell for a Pusnes permanent mooring system. Contract value is around EUR 20 million.   "We are very happy to finalise this large contract," says Jan Martin Grindheim, Vice President, Offshore Mooring Systems at MacGregor. MacGregor Reorganizes into 7 Operative Divisions

MacGregor Mooring Systems for Tender Rigs

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has won new contracts that will see electrically-driven versions of its mooring systems fitted to two new tender assist drilling rigs for Thailand-based Mermaid Maritime Public Company Limited. The Self-Erected Drilling Tender (Hull No. CMHI (JS)-151-1 and Hull No. CMHI (JS)-151-2) are under construction at China Merchants Heavy Industry (Jiangsu) Co Ltd with delivery planned for 2016. The order was booked into third quarter 2014 order intake. MacGregor will provide each rig with an electrically-driven eight-point mooring system with a 95-tonne line pull, a 460-tonne brake holding capacity and a 1,400m x 64mm diameter wire drum capacity. MacGregor equipment deliveries are scheduled for June 2015.

Aker Solutions Offshore Loading Systems Contracts, Brazil

Aker Solutions has won two similar contracts, together worth approx. 120 million NOK, from CQG Oil & Gas Contractors Inc. and CCI Oil & Gas Contractors Inc., for the supply of Pusnes offloading systems(TM) to two FPSOs in the Brazilian market. The offloading systems will be installed on the two FPSOs P-58 and P-62, which are being converted and built for Petrobras. The two FPSOs are spread moored FPSOs, and will use the field proven Pusnes offloading system(TM) at both bow and aft ends.

Aker Solutions to Supply Loading Systems for Shuttle Tankers

Aker Solutions has been awarded contracts for the supply of Pusnes offshore loading systems for ten shuttle tankers that will operate in Brazil and Norway. The total contract value for Aker Solutions is approximately NOK 150 million. Several major South Korean shipyards have awarded Aker Solutions contracts for the supply of Pusnes bow loading system for 10 suezmax shuttle tankers. Eight of the shuttle tankers are being built for various ship-owners, and will operate in Brazilian waters. Two of the shuttle tankers will operate for a Norwegian ship-owner at the Goliat field in the Barents Sea. The Pusnes bow loading system enables a safe and secure connection for the hose to the shuttle tanker.

Cargotec has appointed Tom Svennevig as Vice President responsible for the company's advanced load-handling business line as of 24 October 2011. Mr Svennevig is experienced in the offshore business, and he joins Cargotec from Aker Pusnes in Norway where he was Vice President, Deck Machinery. Mr Svennevig is based in Kristiansand, Norway, where he also assumes the role of Managing Director of Cargotec Norway AS.

Cargotec Buys Aker Mooring and Loading Systems Business

Aker Solutions today agreed to sell its mooring and loading systems business to Cargotec for an enterprise value of NOK 1.4 billion, or about €180 million. The unit, known for the Pusnes brand name, provides mooring equipment, loading and offloading systems, as well as deck machinery for the global offshore and shipping markets. Aker Solutions will book a gain of about NOK 1 billion from the sale. "The proceeds will be used to develop Aker Solutions' main business in the deepwater and subsea oil-services segments," says Øyvind Eriksen, executive chairman of Aker Solutions.

Great Ships of 2013: Shuttle Tanker RIO 2016 for TEN

RIO 2016 is the first vessel in a series of two shuttle tanker in Brazilian water operation, designed by Sungdong Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering for Tsakos Energy Navigation Ltd., two companies with a long and good historic relationship. This vessel was chartered to Petroleo Brasileiro SA. The ship is built under the survey of DNV and designed in accordance with IACS common structure rule (CSR). The vessel has six pairs of cargo oil tanks, two slop tanks, fore and aft peak tanks, segregated water ballast tanks, fuel oil tanks and fresh water tanks.
