Greg Knitz, President of Alignment Supplies, Inc., has announced  the release of another 2 new measurement program Apps for the ALiSENSOR Level geometric measurement system - Shaft Plumb and Shaft Level. “These new Apps are the 6th and 7th Apps to be released, and as always, all Apps are totally free to download from the App Store,” said Knitz. “The value of our ALiSENSOR™ Level system just continues to grow with more functionality and new types of measurement applications.”

The Shaft Plumb measurement program App enables users to quickly measure vertical shaft plumbness with an angle accuracy down to 0.001°. By using the VF Fixture Package with Shaft / Cylinder Adapter, the ALiSENSOR Level is mounted vertically to the shaft, and measurements are taken at 0°, 90°, 180°, and 270° in rotation around the vertical shaft. The measurements can even be taken without rotating the shaft, by moving the fixture to each consecutive measurement point. The resulting plumbness measurement can be saved and documented on a fully customizable PDF, which can also include a picture of the measurement object, taken with the built-in camera of the iPad (or iPhone or iPod Touch) display unit. “The report can even be emailed to a colleague, customer, or your own office computer directly from the field, which has so many great advantages,” said Knitz. “The documentation is done and distributed only moments after the actual measurement is completed.”

The Shaft Level measurement program App also features the same ability to document and report in the field. This app allows users to quickly perform level measurements of the rotation axis of a shaft, again with an angle accuracy down to .001°. Measurements are also taken at 0°, 90°, 180°, and 270° positions horizontally around the shaft, and can be taken without rotating the shaft by moving the fixture to each new measurement point. The VF Fixture Package with Shaft / Cylinder Adapter is also ideal for this type of measurement, though customers can also make up their own custom fixtures as well. “One of the great aspects of both the Shaft Plumb and Shaft Level measurements is that the ALiSENSOR Level does not need a fixture to span the length of the measurement object,” said Knitz. “So the ALiSENSOR Level VF system, only about 100mm or 3.9” in length, is mounted with the Shaft / Cylinder Adapter to a vertical or horizontal shaft and is able to measure the Plumbness or Levelness of the entire shaft because of the innovative measurement procedure in measuring the rotational center of the shaft, either vertically or horizontally. And the ease-of-use and speed of measurement of the ALiSENSOR Level is significantly better than comparable geometric measurement systems that cost 5 to 10 times as much,” explained Knitz.

The Shaft Plumb and Shaft Level Apps for the ALiSENSOR Level are downloaded free of charge from the App Store. Since the ALiSENSOR Level was developed under the Industrial MFi (Made for iPad) program, which integrates the iPad and other iOS devices into industrial-grade tools and equipment, adding new measurement program Apps is easily performed by downloading them for free from the App Store. “The addition of these extraordinarily innovative new Apps solidifies the development of the ALiSENSOR Level into the breakthrough measurement technology of the future,” said Knitz.
