Klevan President & CEO of SeaKeepers Society

Following a unanimous board decision, the International SeaKeepers Society welcomed Dean C. Klevan as its new President and CEO. Klevan joins SeaKeepers following a distinguished career in the financial services industry. Most recently, he was the President of the Coral Gables Trust Company, an institution he helped to found. Klevan also served in senior positions with Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, and Citicorp in the United States and abroad. He brings a business perspective to the challenges faced by a not-for-profit in today’s weakened economic environment.

All American Marine Delivers the R/V Manta

All American Marine has delivered an 82-ft.Teknicraft research catamaran built under contract for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The R/V Manta will operate in the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary, located 100 miles offshore, directly south of the Louisiana-Texas boarder. Trinity and SeaKeepers Society Team Up

Trinity Yachts, announced they have agreed to donate the fabrication and installation of the structural foundation, including the through-hull fittings, to allow SeaKeeper 1000 oceanographic and atmospheric monitoring systems to be installed at no charge to all of their new builds. The SeaKeeper 1000 monitoring system takes precise oceanographic (salinity, sea-surface temperature, pH) and meteorological (air temperature, wind speed/direction, barometer) measurements every minute, and then sends its collected data automatically to the world via satellite. Unlike other monitoring systems, the SeaKeeper 1000 is a plug and play unit that offers scientists the flexibility and cost-efficiency of interchangeable sensors.

International Seakeepers Society Announces Megayacht Program

The International SeaKeepers Society will host a press conference on September 22 to introduce its new Yacht Builder Partnership Program, whose initial membership includes Oceanco, Feadship, Lürssen, Christensen Yachts, Delta Marine, Trinity Yachts and Benetti. Yacht builders can join SeaKeepers as Yacht Partners for a $25,000 fee and will work with the Society by introducing their clients to Society membership. In exchange, Yacht Partners use the SeaKeeper Partner logo in their advertising and marketing and participate in social functions. The partnership also encourages fellowship between yachtsmen.
