Following a cooperation sealed between Alphatron Marine and Green Award Foundation at Posidonia in Athens, Greece, Alphatron Marine will reward Green Award certified ships with a discount of 10 percent that applies to a range of products and services for both seagoing and inland navigation ships.

Green Award certificate implies that a ship’s performance is of such high standards of safety and quality that the ship qualifies for the Green Award requirements. Ships certified by Green Award are sustainable, environmentally-friendly and they maintain and enhance best practices of the shipping industry.

Alphatron Marine, who delivers fully integrated navigation and communication bridge equipment to shipyards and ship-owners , said it supports the idea of better and safer shipping and, therefore, offers a special discount to ships participating in the Green Award program.

Green Award’s Chairman Capt Dimitrios Mattheou and Alphatron Marine’s CEO Luuk Vroombout met at Posidonia in Athens to affirm their cooperation. Vroombout received a Green Award plaque from the hands of Captain Mattheou marking the occasion of Alphatron Marine officially becoming a Green Award incentive provider.

All Green Award certified (deepsea and inland) ships are entitled to a 10 percent discount on products and services such as JRC and Alphatron Marine hardware and labor, AlphaEye remote support (three-year contract), VSAT airtime (one-, two- or three-year contract), maintenance contract (three-year contract) and service tariff (labor and travel). There are also special discounts available for inland navigation barges on AlphaFuelControl and for deepsea vessels on Annual Radio Survey and Annual Performance Test for VDR.  These discounts are only valid when services, delivery or support are carried out by the Alphatron Marine Center of Excellence in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

Green Award’s Chairman Mattheou embraced Alphatron Marine’s decision to join the Green Award scheme. “Green Award supports implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility principles,” Mattheou said. “We encourage safety and environmental awareness. Alphatron Marine products and services help to improve and maintain safe and efficient operations resulting in a win-win situation for the industry, people and the environment. We are pleased to have them joining the scheme.”

“The pollution and health impact of shipping is becoming more important every day, especially since it is the backbone of the global economy” said Vroombout, co-founder and CEO of Alphatron Marine. “Several issues must be addressed together to make the industry greener.”

Vroombout continued, “Together with the Green Award Foundation, Alphatron Marine is pleased to offer such incentive program to ship owners that choose for building and maintaining environmentally responsible vessels. We feel these green initiatives are key for the continued health of our planet, today but also in 20 years.”
