With over 20 years of maritime experience, Bryson was previously with Derecktor Shipyards, Christensen Shipyards, and Heisley Marine Corp. Bryson also served as Director of Engineering at Brunswick Corporation, overseeing approximately 50 engineers and launching eight new products annually over a five-year period. Bryson also spent time with Clipper Windpower where he served as Program Manager. “I can’t express enough how excited I am to work with Willard Marine,” says Bryson. “While at Brunswick, it was very hard to find ways to compete with Willard. Their fleets were all handmade in the U.S.

Science Applications International (SAIC) awarded US Navy DARPA contract for Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Unmanned Vessel. The contract by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) for the Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Continuous Trail Unmanned Vessel (ACTUV) program phases two through four to design, build and test a new prototype unmanned autonomous surface vessel. The DARPA ACTUV program aims to develop an unmanned autonomous surface vessel with the ability to track a quiet diesel-electric submarine overtly for months over thousands of kilometers, with minimal human input. SAIC provided conceptual design services in phase one of the program, creating an innovative wave piercing trimaran solution.

A Zeus Night-Vision Camera System from the manufacturer OceanView Technologies Inc. is now featured on Christensen Shipyards' newest launch, set to debut at the 2009 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, October 29 – November 2. The 160-ft Odessa is the first Christensen yacht to feature a black hull and silver painted superstructure. The Zeus Thermal Camera System is painted metallic silver to match the superstructure. The Zeus multi-sensor camera features three cameras in one robust unit, a thermal zoom, low-light zoom and color zoom all in one.

Walter Altmann, who brings more than 15 years of yachting industry experience in a variety of roles, has been hired by Knight & Carver YachtCenter as its on-staff naval architect and designer. Altmann spent the past two years with Hatteras Yachts in North Carolina, where he was in charge of new-product design. According to Sampson A. Brown, President/CEO of Knight & Carver, the addition of Altmann gives the boat-building and repair company its first full-time staff architect/designer in many years. Altmann has served as a naval architect, marine engineer and yacht broker. Prior to joining Hatteras, he spent three years at Cabo Yachts in Adelanto, CA, where he coordinated conceptual design for Cabo’s new models.

A federal court in Miami has ruled that golfer Tiger Woods’ lawsuit against Christensen Shipyards, Ltd. will proceed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida and that an order enjoining Christensen from the unauthorized use of Woods’ name or photographs of his boat will remain in place. Woods filed his rights-of-publicity suit against Christensen last October in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. The suit alleges that the luxury yacht manufacturer, based in Vancouver, improperly used Mr. Woods’ name, his wife’s name, and photographs of a yacht built for Woods in connection with the advertising and marketing of Christensen’s products. Mr. Woods also seeks injunctive relief from Christensen.
