Pacific Green Names Helland-Evebo as VP

Pacific Green Technologies, the developer of emission control technologies that remove pollutants from marine engine, announced the appointment of Frode Helland-Evebo as Vice President, Marine Direct Sales, a new position at the Company, effective September 1, 2019.The owner of the ENVI-Marine and ENVI-Clean Exhaust Gas Scrubbing Systems said in a press release that Frode is a sales professional with 24 years’ experience in roles with leading Scandinavian and international corporations, including Autronica (a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation), Honeywell, Consilium and Zenitel.Frode joins from the international exhaust gas scrubbing business…

Maritime Reporter talks with Bart Otten, President, United Technologies Corporation Fire & Security EMEA, at this year’s biggest maritime trade show, the Nor-Shipping Exhibition, regarding the company’s Joint Maritime Approach. Bart Otten heads the Fire and Security Business Unit of UTC in Europe, Middle-East and Africa both for the land and marine business sides. He is also in charge of United Technologies’ entire Marine business initiative. Based in the Europe head office in Brussels, Otten, a Dutch citizen himself, has worked within the UTC Group since 2007.

MHI Acquires Pratt & Whitney Power Systems

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) completed its acquisition of Pratt & Whitney Power Systems, the small and medium-size gas turbine business unit of Pratt & Whitney (P&W), an aeroengine manufacturer. Pratt & Whitney Power Systems has changed its corporate name to PW Power Systems, Inc. (PWPS) and is now an MHI group company. The acquisition was completed in accordance with the agreement reached last December between MHI and United Technologies Corporation (UTC) of the U.S., P&W's parent company. As part of the acquisition, MHI also acquired Turboden s.r.l.

Small and Medium-size Gas Turbine Business Unit of P&W -- Agreement Signed with United Technologies, U.S. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has concluded an agreement with United Technologies Corporation (UTC) of the U.S. under which MHI will acquire Pratt & Whitney Power Systems (PWPS), the small and medium-size gas turbine business unit of Pratt & Whitney (P&W), an aeroengine manufacturer. Earlier this week, MHI and UTC, P&W's parent company, signed the agreement. PWPS engages primarily in the engineering, assembly and sales of aero-derivative gas turbines and also provides services of gas turbines and engineering, procurement and construction of related power generation systems. The company has approximately 430 employees. By the acquisition, Turboden s.r.l.

Thackrah New Exec. Director Military Sealift Command

The U.S. Navy's Military Sealift Command welcomed its new executive director John Thackrah Jan. 24. Thackrah - a member of the Senior Executive Service - will oversee MSC's business operations and serve as a senior advisor to MSC's commanding admirals. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., MSC is the ocean transportation provider for the Department of Defense - responsible for the operation of more than 110 civilian-crewed, noncombatant ships supporting military and humanitarian missions worldwide. Thackrah comes to MSC from the Navy's Strategic Systems Program, where he served as the principle deputy. SSP provides the nation's sea-based deterrent missile systems. Thackrah began his Navy career in 2005 as the deputy assistant secretary for management and budget.

American Superconductor Corporation has appointed Kevin Bisson as senior vice president and chief financial officer.
