Opal Receives Awards

Wednesday, November 13, 2002
Opal Marine, the UK’s largest sailboat distributor has collected a host of awards for outstanding sales of Island Packet yachts in the UK. The awards were presented to Island Packet Sales Director, Bob Stokes during the recent annual Island Packet dealer’s banquet and awards ceremony in Annapolis, USA. For the third year in a row Opal picked up the “Million Dollar Club” award which is aimed at an elite group of dealers who have succeeded in selling Island Packet yachts with a value in excess of £1m, during the past year. Opal was also presented with a “Gold Star Dealer” award for attaining a place as one of the top three Island Packet dealers in the world and for outstanding achievement in customer satisfaction, the Hampshire company collected the “Golden Wrench” award. Delighted with the continued recognition from the prestigious US boat builder, Bob Stokes, said, “2002 has been another great year for Island Packet sales in the UK. We have continued to work hard to ensure our service and customer care has matched the quality of these exceptional yachts and the latest accolades are a further endorsement that this is a highly successful combination.” For Bob, the icing on the cake was when a UK customer signed a contract on the new Island Packet 485 during the Annapolis Sailboat Show, where the boat was making its world debut. He said, “Not only was this the first retail sale of the show, but it also represented the highest value yacht ever sold by Opal Marine.” The stunning new IP485 will be making its first ever European appearance on Opal Marine’s Island Packet stand (46C) at the London Boat Show in January.
