Caterpillar Introduces Compact Marine Propulsion Engines

Monday, April 30, 2001
Caterpillar Inc. has premiered a variety of new engines - the new 3034 DIT; 3034 DINA; 3054 DIT; and 3054B DINA marine propulsion engines. The 3034, 3054 and 3054B engines offer outstanding reliability and durability in a very compact package size.

These versatile, powerful engines can be applied in single or twin engine workboat, fish boat, passenger ferry, patrol craft, sailboat or pleasure craft applications.

The new engine offerings expand the Caterpillar 3000 Family line of engines, introduced in 2000. Caterpillar initially offered the 3056 propulsion engine as the first in a new line of compact, fuel-efficient marine propulsion engines based on an environmentally friendly, in-line 6-cylinder, 4-stroke cycle diesel design.

Engine operation is quiet and clean with extremely low emissions levels. The engines are environmentally friendly with no visible smoke throughout the engine's operating range.

The low fuel consumption, low cost of replacement parts and extended service intervals are significant factors in the overall low operation costs of the engines. Engine shipments to dealers will begin in July for the 3034, and September for the 3054 models. The 3054 DIT and 3054B DINA are also available in keel cooled configurations.
