STG E-Board Decides on Lecture Program

Thursday, January 26, 2006
In the course of 2006, the German Society for Maritime Technology (STG) will be concentrating on the topic of shipping and environmental protection. At its board meeting, which was held at the head office of Germanischer Lloyd, the new Executive Board and Board Council of STG decided to put the thematic focus on current topics of environmental policy, such as the technical requirements affecting new regulations for an ecological recycling of ships. Besides the subject area of maritime environmental protection, the STG will continue to give its attention to the technical design aspects concerning the operational reliability of ships. Since the founding of the German Society for Maritime Technology in 1899, the focus of its activities has been on the integration of maritime occupations, such as ship technicians and ship owners, who jointly discuss technical, scientific and practical tasks of ship and offshore technology. The traditional "Shipowners' Discussion Day" is planned for February 15, to be held at the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg this year. The topic of the event will be “Current Problems of Ship Operation.”
