Hamburg Cruise Center to Promote Seatrade

Wednesday, March 14, 2007
The Hamburg Cruise Center e.V., together with the cruise terminal operator UNIKAI Lagerei- und Speditionsgesellschaft mbH will promote the destination Hamburg at Seatrade. Together with five other German cruise destinations the cruise location Hamburg will present itself under the headline “Destinations Germany.”

Hamburg becomes more and more important as a cruise location for shipping companies as well as for passengers. During the 2006 season 68 cruise ships called at the port. The number of passengers doubled against the previous year to around 75,000. The Hamburg Cruise Center e.V. expects these figures to rise to about 80 ship calls and over 140,000 passengers during the forthcoming season. The christening of the “AIDAdiva” on April 20, the visit of Cunard’s new building Queen Victoria as well as six further first ship calls are just a few of the anticipated highlights in 2007. This year Hamburg’s cruise season will be extended into the month of December. For the first time several cruise lines offer Christmas cruises to the Port of Hamburg.
