MAN B&W Diesel’s Danish Four-stroke unit Restructures MAN B&W Diesel A/S has decided to restructure its activities in the company’s Four-stroke business unit. Rationalization is necessary to keep the competitive edge and the structural change will entail a gradual concentration of the Danish Four-stroke engine production in Frederikshavn and, at the same time, a phasing out of production in Holeby. The Holeby division will continue as a center of GenSet competence, with approximately 90 employees. The functions will include sales & marketing, engineering and customer support. The Frederikshavn division has a broad business base, including Four-stroke engines for propulsion of small ships and complete propulsion plants with gear and propellers. In the future, GenSets production will complement existing activities. On top of this, MAN B&W Diesel in Frederikshavn has its own foundry and extensive service center activities. The restructuring will not affect MAN B&W Diesel’s largest business unit, the Two-stroke division, which is located in Copenhagen. Production of small, Two-stroke engines will continue in Frederikshavn.
