Blohm + Voss Repair Wins Business

On the morning of March 30, 2004, the Black Prince of the Fred. Olsen Cruises Line shipping company docked into Dock 10 of Blohm + Voss Repair GmbH. The cruise liner as it is today was originally constructed in such a way that it was able to be employed on the one hand as a passenger liner and cargo ship, and on the other as a passenger and car ferry. The Black Prince was converted into a pure passenger liner in 1986. The ship particularly stands out due to the newly designed Marina Park – a water sports facility that is unique up to now. It can be taken out of the stern and used as a floating platform for water sports fans. A maximum of 451 passengers can go on a cruise in the 241 cabins of the Black Prince. The last full renovation took place in 1999. The 141.62 m long, 20.27 m wide ship with a draft of 6.42 m is now receiving a new crankshaft on the port side at Blohm + Voss Repair.

Moreover, some paint work has to be carried out in addition to retouch work on the engine plant. The Black Prince is expected to leave the shipyard again on April 25, 2004.

The tanker Methane Artic is expected in the Blohm + Voss Repair dock on April 7, 2004. The tanker has a length of 234.34 m, a width of 34.04 m and 10.04 m draft. The load-bearing capacity comes to 48,454 dwt. Besides general overhaul work to the tanker, the cargo tanks will also be serviced and checked for consistence, the discharge pump controlled, as well as the mooring winches and capstans overhauled.

The White Swan will be docking in at Blohm + Voss Repair for its five-year class after Easter, on 13th April 2004. The container ship is 202.45 m long, 31.04 m wide and has a draught of 9.65 m. The ship's load-bearing capacity is 30,824 dwt. As well as an overhaul of the engine plant and work on the pipes, modified shank work and extensive paint work will also be carried out.
