U.S. Donates Patrol Boats for Indonesian Police

The U.S. government handed 15 patrol boats to the Indonesian police and agreed for additional funding for police reform totaling $6.4m. The high-speed patrol boats and support equipment are provided by the U.S. Department of Justice International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP), funded by the State Department Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL), the U.S. Embassy said in a statement. The patrol boats will be deployed in the waters of Sulawesi, Sumatra and Kalimantan to assist the police in their maritime security efforts throughout the archipelago.   Source: Xinhua
