Waterways Council - Officers & Directors

At the Annual Waterways Council, Inc. (WCI) Membership Meeting and Board of Directors Meeting held October 29 in St. Louis, the following officers and Executive Committee members were elected to serve or continue service for 2008-2009:  Dan Mecklenborg, Senior Vice President, HR & Chief Legal Officer, Ingram Barge Company, remains as Chairman of the Board; Cornel Martin, was elected President and CEO; Steve Little, President and CEO, Crounse Corporation, remains as General Counsel; Peter Stephaich, Chairman, Campbell Transportation Co., was re-elected Secretary; Cherrie Felder, Vice President, Channel Shipyard, remains as Treasurer.  Former WCI President and CEO R. Barry Palmer was named President Emeritus.
 
Also named to new terms as officers were Richard R. (Rick) Calhoun, President of Cargo Carriers, First Vice Chairman; Peter B. Lilly, President of CONSOL Energy’s Coal Group, Vice Chairman and H. Merritt Lane, III, President and CEO of Canal Barge Co., Vice Chairman. 
 
Other members who will remain on WCI’s Executive Committee: James L. Adams, Vice President Government Policy, American Commercial Lines; Mark K. Knoy, President of AEP River Operations; C. Berdon Lawrence, Chairman of Kirby Corp.; and Rodney M. Weinzierl, Executive Director of Illinois Corn Growers Association.
 
Four new directors were elected and 10 others will continue to serve the remainder of their three-year terms. Joining the board were Susan M. Diehl, Holcim (US), Inc.; John M. Guin, Nucor Steel Tuscaloosa, Inc.; John M. Pivak, U.S. Steel Corp.; and Dale J. Roth, Carpenters’ District Council of Greater St. Louis and Vicinity.  Continuing service are: Thomas A. Allegretti, American Waterways Operators; F. L. (Leon) Crites, Citgo Petroleum Corp.; Peter L. Evans, Marathon Petroleum Corp.; David C. Hanby, Jr., McDonough Marine Service; Gary P. LaGrange, Port of New Orleans; Lee J. Nelson, Upper River Services, Inc.; Timothy M. (Tim) Parker, Jr., Parker Towing Co., Inc.; and Linda Turner, FirstEnergy Corp.


Waterways Council, Inc. is the national public policy organization advocating a modern and well-maintained national system of ports and inland waterways.  The group is supported by waterways carriers, shippers, port authorities, shipping associations and waterways advocacy groups from all regions of the country.
