Adventure Of The Seas Makes U.S. Debut

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

November 6, 2001

Royal Caribbean International's Adventure of the Seas, the world's largest cruise ship, arrived today at Boston harbor after crossing the Atlantic Ocean from Turku, Finland. Sister-ship to Voyager of the Seas and Explorer of the Seas, Adventure boasts some of the most innovative shipboard amenities in the industry. She will sail year-round cruise vacations roundtrip from San Juan, Puerto Rico, to the Southern Caribbean beginning November 18, 2001, visiting Oranjestad, Aruba; Willemstad, Curacao; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; and St. Thomas, USVI. The Voyager-class ships are the only vessels to offer vacationers an ice-skating rink, a rock climbing wall 200 feet above sea level, an inline skating track, a full basketball court, and interior staterooms with views of the Royal Promenade, a New Orleans-style shopping, dining and entertainment boulevard. Other exciting features onboard Adventure include a Johnny Rockets restaurant; The Lyric, a four-deck-high, 1362-seat theater inspired by the Art Nouveau period; a golf course and golf simulator; more than 15,000 square feet dedicated to health and fitness, and one of the largest casinos afloat. Adventure of the Seas will sail a two-night preview cruise in Boston, before heading to New York City. She will be the first cruise ship to enter the New York harbor, since the September 11 terrorists attacks, when she arrives on Saturday, November 10, for her official naming ceremony.
