At Samsung Quality Forum 2003 in Norway Samsung Quality Forum 2003 Highlighting a co-ordinated campaign to match SHI’s ambitious commercial strategy with a new drive to boost construction and post-delivery standards, shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries presented its customer-oriented quality and HSE management system’ during the recent Nor-Shipping exhibition in Lillestrøm, Norway. The scheme is a result of a full quality audit, overarching European and domestic vendors, internal production processes, service during construction as well as health and safety management. The process is formalised through the award of Samsung-Q-Mark-Certification. The scheme demands that vendors extend their equipment guarantees from one to two years and claims shipping and offshore construction standards 28% superior to other quality standards.
