Automated Maritime Telecommunications System – licensing auction

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) issued a Notice stating that it will conduct an auction of licenses of the Automated Maritime Telecommunications System (AMTS) on August 3. The AMTS is an alternative to the VHF public coast service and provides a unique distress, operational, and personal communication system for vessels at sea and on inland waterways. 70 Fed. Reg. 29497 (May HK Law).
