B&G announced its technical support of the world’s premier global sailing race, the 2008-2009 Volvo Ocean Race. Making its halfway stopover in Boston this month, the quadrennial competition known as the Everest of Sailing began October 2008 in Alicante, Spain and covers over 37,000 nautical miles.

Supporting each team’s dedicated electronics specialist, B&G technical experts began specifying performance instrument system solutions over a year before the race began. The support team selected and installed a B&G grand prix performance Wave Technology Processor (WTP) 2 in every new boat built for the race.

For the Delta Lloyds team using the original AMN AMRO ONE from the 2005-06 race, B&G technicians upgraded its H2000 system to a Hercules Performance H3000 system.
