Bollinger Marine Fabricators, LLC, Amelia, La., a Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. company, has signed a contract with K-Sea Transportation Partners L.P., Staten Island, N.Y. for the construction of a leading edge double hull, ocean service, OPA '90 oil barge. The Bollinger hull #490, DBL103, will have capacity of 100,000 barrels (BBL) and is a near sister ship to the DBL 101 and DBL 102 that Bollinger delivered to K-Sea in 2002 and 2004. Terms were not disclosed. The barge will be built primarily for oil service on the Northeast U. S. coast and Gulf of Mexico region. It will be coupled with existing K-Sea tugs equipped with the state-of-the-art JAK 400 tug/barge Push-Pin System. The 100,000 BBL capacity barge will measure 400-feet in length, 74-foot beam and 25-foot depth, with a displacement of approximately 16,450 tons. Delivery is planned for the fall of 2005.
