Crowley Maritime Corporation announced that has reorganized its
Crowley Marine Services subsidiary into three distinct operating groups – ship assist and escort services, petroleum services, and energy and marine services.
Steve Peterson, senior vice president and general manager, is now managing energy and marine services and will relocate from Jacksonville to Seattle. Rob Grune, vice president and general manager, is managing ship assist and escort services and Bruce Barto, vice president and general manager, is directing Petroleum Services, also from Seattle. Each of these individuals reports directly to chairman, president and CEO, Tom Crowley Jr., and has profit and loss responsibilities for their groups.
Each unit has its own organization for disciplines such as financial analysis, marine operations and commercial sales and marketing.
Crowley’s energy and marine services comprise contract towing and transportation, energy support, and salvage and emergency response. Services provided include the transportation of huge, extraordinary and complex structures, including everything from offshore drilling rigs, platforms and jackets and the largest pre-fabricated modules in the world, to retired U.S. Navy ships and fully erect gantry cranes. In addition, a diverse scope of services for the energy industry is offered, drawing upon several disciplines including upstream logistics and project management, ocean towing and transportation, marine engineering, offshore construction support, oil storage and transportation, tanker escort, all-terrain transportation, and quality, safety and environmental protection.
Ship assist & escort services are provided with one of the most advanced fleets of ship assist and escort tugs anywhere. Each advanced tug is capable of assisting the largest ships in the world. Present operations are in San Diego, Los Angeles/Long Beach, Puget Sound and in Valdez, Alaska, where Crowley is the sole marine contractor for Alyeska Pipeline Service Company. In addition, this group has responsibility for the company’s role with Marine Response Alliance, of which Crowley is a founding member. The alliance is a joint venture with Marine Pollution Control and provides OPA 90 coverage for rescue towing, lightering, salvage, and firefighting in every U.S. Captain of the Port Zone.
Petroleum services includes U.S. West Coast petroleum transportation as well as storage, distribution and sales activities in Alaska. This business group operates a fleet of tank barges and tugs serving the West Coast, provides fuel supply, transportation and delivery services in Alaska, and operates several tank farms in Alaskan communities.
