Crowley announced that it will begin offering warehousing and distribution services through its Gulf Coast gateway in Gulfport, Miss., on May 1.  The 40,000 square-foot warehouse, located next to Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport at 4300 Air Cargo Road and just seven miles from the port, features approximately 20,000 square feet of dry storage and 20,000 square feet of refrigerated and frozen storage.

"This strategically located distribution center is well suited to serve shippers in the Southwest, Midwest and Southeast looking to consolidate or deconsolidate loads for ocean transport," said Steve Collar, Crowley senior vice president and general manager of logistics.

Personnel at Crowley's Gulf Coast International Cargo facility will be able to provide customers with individual or packaged logistics services, including: receiving, storage, delivery and transportation; import / export consolidation and distribution; build up and break down of unit load devices (ULDs) and pallets; palletizing, banding, crating and shrink wrapping services; pre-cooling services for perishables;  presentation of shipment to federal agencies; specialty sorting; re-packing; temperature controlled onsite fumigation; cross docking; local truck delivery and nationwide trucking, and ocean container loading, unloading and consolidation.

In addition to the dry and refrigerated space in the warehouse, there are also two smaller-sized refrigeration rooms that can be programmed to maintain temperatures as low as 0 degrees Fahrenheit. The 20,000 square feet of refrigerated space can be maintained as low as 34 degrees Fahrenheit for non-frozen products.

Government authorities and other services available on site include: US Customs and Border Patrol, US Department of Agriculture - Animal and Plant Health Inspection Services, and National Identification Services; Transportation Security Administration clearance; digital closed circuit surveillance system; dangerous goods and Hazmat training; X-Ray clearance, and dual-temperature controlled fumigation.
