Damen Signs Contract

Damen Shipyards Gorinchem, The Netherlands and Wilson Sons, Brazil signed a contract and license agreement for the construction of a Damen Platform Supply Vessel 7216. The 236 ft. (72 m) vessel will be built by Wilson Sons at its shipyard in Guaruja (Santos), Brazil. Damen will provide engineering, construction drawings and a material package. The vessel, operated by Wilson Sons, will enter into a charter contract with Petrobras and fully complies with their requirements. The 3,100 dwt vessel has an available deck area 630 sq. m. with a maximum deck load of 1,000 ton. The tank lay-out includes fuel oil, potable water, ballast/drilling water, liquid mud and dry bulk. Propulsion is based on a diesel - electric propulsion system, comprising four main generators, two electric motors and two 1500 kW CPP Azimuth Rudder Propellers. Twin 600 kW electric bow thrusters are provided with CPP. Fully air-conditioned accommodation for 24 persons is included. The Damen PSV 7216 is scheduled to enter service during the second half of 2006.
