A Scottish trawler that sank in the Irish Sea last week, drowning its seven crew, may have hit an abandoned mine, according to press reports.
Marine accident investigators reportedly said that the bow of the Solway Harvester was badly holed - indicating it collided with a large object. Investigators indicated that they are looking into the possibility that the vessel hit a mine, adding that they are trying to figure out why
the trawler, one of the best-equipped in the Scottish fishing fleet, sank so quickly without a distress call or time for its crew to abandon ship.
