DRS Technologies, Inc. has received several contracts with a total value of $47 million to provide power electronics and control equipment for several U.S. Navy combatant ship classes currently under construction and to provide advanced design work for the Navy's next-generation DD(X) destroyer and CVN(X) aircraft carrier programs.
The contracts were awarded by various U.S. Navy shipyards, defense industry prime contractors and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). For these awards, the company's DRS Power & Control Technologies unit in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Danbury, Connecticut, will provide more than 1,000 electrical cabinets, as well as components to all Navy combatants currently under construction, including destroyers, aircraft carriers,
Virginia class submarines and
amphibious assault vessels. The company also will provide electrical plant equipment design work for the Navy's new next-generation DD(X) destroyer and CVN(X) aircraft carrier programs, supporting the current and future shipbuilding needs of the U.S. Product deliveries are expected to continue through the middle of 2005.
