EU-Wide Policy Proposals Launched

Thursday, July 13, 2006
The European Fisheries Commissioner is in Dublin tp launch proposals for a new Europe-wide maritime policy. If the plans are approved, Ireland would have to adopt new policies on fishing, tourism and the environment. The aim is to boost economic development in coastal areas and solve legal battles over national boundaries at sea. The plan is being launched at an international conference on the law of the sea in Dublin and members of the public are being invited to offer suggestions before the proposals are finalized next year.
