Fire Hazard Warning Issued

The Singapore Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) issued a Circular warning of a potential fire hazard on certain ships where a hatch cover for fuel oil tanks is located inside the forward storeroom. During fueling, fumes may accumulate in the storeroom. If the space is not adequately ventilated, the fumes may lead to a fire or explosion when electrical equipment in the storeroom is activated.
