Hall Elected President of PVA

Fred Hall was elected PVA 2002 President on Tuesday, February 19 during the PVA Annual Convention at MariTrends 2002 in Biloxi, Miss. Hall is Vice President and General Manager of the Bridgeport and Port Jefferson Steamboat Company, Port Jefferson, N.Y., a provider of ferry service across the Long Island Sound. This ferry service has been in business since 1883 and now operates three 100-vehicle/1000-passenger vessels. Prior to being elected PVA President, Hall has served as PVA Vice-President, PVA Secretary-Treasurer and co-chairman of the PVA Legislative Committee. He was also a founding member and a past chairman of the PVA Ferry Council.

PVA members also elected the following officers and board members to serve with Hall: PVA Vice President Gary Frommelt, Hornblower Marine Services, Elizabeth, IN, PVA Secretary-Treasurer David B. Clark, Golden Gate Ferry, Larkspur, CA., and Board Members, elected to three-year terms, were Robin Trinko-Russell, Madeline Island Ferry Line, LaPointe, WI, and Associate Representative to the Board Dottie Belletto, Bauer Interiors, Inc., New Orleans, LA. PVA vice president Gary Frommelt is director of marine operations for Hornblower Marine Services at Caesars Indiana, which is home to the largest riverboat casino in the world at 5,000 passengers. Frommelt is a long-time member of the PVA safety committee and served as a PVA board member beginning in 1996. He has chaired the PVA membership committee and the PVA communications committee. Frommelt has worked for the Delta Queen Steamboat Company, New Orleans Steamboat Company, Gateway Riverboat Cruises and the President Casino operations. He is vice president of the Port of Louisville Propeller Club and is on his 4th issue as a licensed Chief Engineer. PVA Secretary-Treasurer David Clark is Deputy General Manager, Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District. Clark manages the Districts' Golden Gate Ferry Division, which carries 1.8 million passengers annually on six vessels. He was a member of the PVA Board of Directors and served as founding chairman of PVA High Speed Subcommittee for two years. Clark is co-chairman of a joint USCG/Industry Natural Working Group formed to refine regulatory and industry strategies for addressing increased operating speeds of technologically advanced ferry vessels. Before joining the Golden Gate Bridge District he served as Vice President, Hornblower Marine Services (HMS), New London, Connecticut and was the Director of Operations for Pacific Marine Yachts in San Francisco, CA. Clark holds a 1600 Ton Ocean Masters License, 5th Issue. New PVA Board Members are Robin Trinko-Russell who served as the co-chair of the PVA Ferry Council and was chair of the Great Lakes Region and Dottie Belletto was most recently chaired the Associate Member Council and has been a long-time active supporter of PVA.
