Intellian’s New k4 Ka-Band HDTV Antenna

Wednesday, February 18, 2009

Intellian Technologies, a world leader in marine satellite entertainment and communications, announced the latest addition to its line of marine satellite TV antennas, the k4.

The K4 and k6 can be used in conjunction with an Intellian Technologies’ Ku-band antenna to provide boaters all 500 DirectTV’s HD and SD programming channels. Intellian’s new Dual Antenna Control Unit (DACU) allows boaters to seamlessly switch between DirecTV’s five satellites providing the same full digital and HD programming enjoyed by home viewers. With easy programming and full DirectTV programming access, Intellian Technologies with its new k4 ka-band antenna provides boaters the ability to watch HD NASCAR and NCAA Mega March Madnes simultaneously.

Intellian’s patented Wide Range Search (WRS) and Dynamic Beam Tilting (DBT) technologies coupled with its innovative Ka-band RF components, solve difficulties of receiving Ka-band signals on the water, and optimize the antenna for high-performance maritime use. The proprietary Intellian Technologies WRS algorithm searches the wide range of side lobes to connect, providing faster satellite acquisition. In addition, the Intellian DBT design features a high-speed sub-reflector that rotates off axis, checking signal strength variation 50 times per second for precision tracking to ensure clear, uninterrupted reception even in rough seas or at high speeds.

Designed to operate in +/- 25-degree rolls and +/- 15-degree pitches, the 17.7-inch antenna dish weighs 25.8 pounds and is housed in a 21.2-inch high dome with a 19.7-inch diameter. The k4 has a convenient DACU with an easy to install plug-and-play interface and multiple rear panel connectors, allowing boaters to directly connect up to eight satellite receivers from locations throughout the boat without the need for multiple switches and complicated wiring. For ultimate performance, the k4 includes a built-in NMEA 0183 interface to support an external GPS for enhanced signal acquisition. FCC and CE approved, the k4 has an operating temperature range of 5- to 131-degrees Fahrenheit. The Intellian k4 is protected by a 2-year parts and 1-year labor limited warranty.

The Intellian k4 marine satellite TV antenna has a suggested retail price of $6,995.00, and can be purchased through authorized Intellian Technologies dealers and distributors worldwide
