L-3 Gets Navy Contracts

According to the AP, L-3 Communications Holdings Inc., has received two contracts with the U.S. Navy for $39.4m to extend service on five ships. The service life extension program has a maximum contract value of $94 million and extends service by 10 years to 30 years.

The extension program includes hull repair and refurbishment; main engine upgrades; installation of a new skirt system and upgrades to the communications and navigation systems. L-3 will implement upgrades and modifications to the five crafts beginning this year, with options for six additional crafts beginning in fiscal 2007. The landing craft air cushion ships transport weapons, equipment and cargo from ships to shore and across beaches. Source: AP
