Mediterranean Shipping Company (USA) Inc. has announced key executive promotions that go into effect January 1, 2006. Claudio Bozzo has been named president and chief operating officer; Allen Clifford will now serve as executive vice president, Commercial; Robert Milazzo is promoted to executive vice president, Intermodal and Equipment Control; Giancarlo Morgera has been named senior vice president, Liner Services; Christopher J. Parvin is now vice president Marine Operations; and Fabio Catassi is promoted to president and chief operating officer of Interlink Technologies, the IT subsidiary company of MSC (USA) Inc.
Nicola Arena remains with MSC (USA) as its newly named chairman as well as chief executive officer of MSC (USA) Inc. and its subsidiary Interlink.

Claudio Bozzo, newly named president
and chief operating officer, has been with MSC (USA) Inc. since 1992 and has held increasingly responsible management positions in documentation, customer service and strategic planning before being named executive vice president in 2002. Since then he has been responsible for orchestrating the company’s steady growth in personnel to insure excellence in customer service, departmental interface and accountable business practices throughout the MSC (USA) organization.
Allen Clifford, newly appointed executive vice president, Commercial, joined Containership Agency in 1981, the agency that first represented MSC in the United States. He was instrumental in building the company’s US client base and initial business practices as Containership Agency evolved to become MSC (USA) Inc. During his tenure with MSC (USA) Clifford continued to build the company’s client base and acquired greater responsibility for developing the company’s sales organization which today spans 14 US offices. Under his purview has also been the cultivation of global commercial accounts as well as new trade lane expansions and accountability. In February of 2000, Clifford was promoted to senior vice president, Sales and Marketing, the title he held until this new promotion.
Robert Milazzo, newly named as executive vice president, Intermodal and Equipment Control, also worked with Containership Agency during the MSC (USA) early years, and since then he has held increasingly responsible positions in operations that include oversight of port facility development and expansion in the United States as well as the growth and management of the company’s extensive intermodal and ground operations in the US. Most recently Milazzo served the company as senior vice president of Intermodal.
Giancarlo Morgera, has been with MSC since 1984, originally serving the company as deck officer at sea for two years, and then just over two years as port captain in Felixstowe, UK. When he joined MSC (USA) in 1989, he would continue to advance within the organization earning positions that would give him greater responsibility and expertise in sales, operations and liner services. His sales experience includes five years as vice president of sales, West Coast when the company first began its Far East service from Long Beach
. Most recently he served as vice president, Liner Services, based at the company’s New York headquarters.
Christopher J. Parvin, newly named Vice President Marine Operations, first came to MSC in
1988 as Operations Manager in Felixstowe, UK. He then moved to the US in 1995 as Operations Manager for MSC (USA) based in New York. In 1998 he relocated to Charleston, SC where he would later be named assistant vice president Marine Operations, his most recent position with the company. In his new post, Parvin will oversee all of the company’s US vessel operations and services conducted at the company’s North American Marine Operations Center based in Charleston.
Fabio Catassi joined MSC (USA) in 1995 and over the next ten years would renovate the company’s entire network infrastructure. This would include the introduction of its proprietary integrated system, MSCLink, in 1997 as well as successfully bringing the company’s IT services in-house. Further new applications and IT business solutions created at MSC have helped established MSC as a technology leader in the maritime industry. In 2005, MSC (USA) opened its IT headquarters office in Warren, New Jersey, home to Interlink Technologies, the subsidiary company that Catassi will now oversee as president and Chief Operating Officer. Catassi will still retain is second title as Chief Technical Officer, MSC Geneva.
