NASSCO Awarded $9.2m Repair Contract

National Steel and Shipping Co., San Diego, Calif., is being awarded a $9.2m modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-06-C-4402) for the repair and alteration for non-docking Chief of Navy Operations-scheduled availability for the USS Cleveland (LPD-7). The work to be provided furnishes the material, supports (electrical, crane, and rigging) and facilities necessary for the maintenance and modernization of the LSD/LPD class ships. This availability includes the instillation of 20,000 sq. ft. of synthetic well deck planking and the 5-Year Strength and Integrity Inspection of the Auxiliary Boiler No. one and no. two. Work will be performed in San Diego, Calif., and is expected to be completed by Dec. 2008. Contract funds in the amount of $9.2m  will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Southwest Regional Maintenance Center, San Diego, Calif., is the contracting activity.
