New Dry Dock Contract Awarded

The U.S. Navy has awarded Atlantic Dry Dock Corp. of Jacksonville, a contract to provide the shipyard with 14,200 LT floating dry dock Sustain. The contract will create approximately 250 new jobs at the shipyard. Over the next five years, the dock will be available to perform both government and commercial repairs. The dock is expected to be in service by April 2000. Dimensions Lifting Capacity: 14,200 LT Length over outrigers: 608 ft. Length of pontoon: 552 ft. Length of keel line blocking: 540 ft. Width overall: 124 ft. Clear width between fenders: 93 ft. Maximum draft over 4 ft. keel blocks: 31.1 ft.
