NG Supplies Nav Systems for Brazil OSVs

Monday, September 21, 2009

Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Sperry Marine business unit has been awarded contracts to supply bridge navigation systems for four new offshore supply vessels to be built in Brazil.

The four multipurpose platform supply vessels, designed by Rolls-Royce, will be built at the Estaleiro Alianca shipyard near Rio de Janeiro for Companhia Brasileira de Offshore (CBO). They will be placed on long-term charter with Petrobras, the Brazilian state oil company, to provide support services for offshore oil platforms.

The scope of supply includes radars, autopilot, speed and heading sensors and other navigation systems. Sperry Marine's sales and service representative in Brazil, Vision Marine Ltda, will be responsible for installation, commissioning and servicing the equipment on the vessels.

Last year, Sperry Marine received orders to supply the same navigation packages for four similar vessels at the same shipyard.
