Northrop Grumman Promotes Southall

Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) has promoted Charles Southall to director, advanced submarine programs for its Newport News sector. In his new position, Southall will be leading the sector in capturing and leading design work associated with future submarines. He will be responsible for all aspects of new submarine design development, from the concept stage through the creation of detailed engineering products. Southall reports to Charlie Butler, director of submarine engineering at Northrop Grumman Newport News. Prior to this appointment Southall served as a manager in the Virginia-class submarine program. He started at Newport News in 1986 as a cooperative education student while in college. Upon graduating, he began his career in the Los Angeles-class construction program and has held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility to include project engineer, engineering supervisor and engineering manager.
