Ocean Tech Workshop Slated for Oct

Thursday, July 22, 2004
As of mid summer, there is a full complement of companies registered to offer class room and boat training on their port and harbor security equipment. The 4th OTW is the only place in the world, where so much of this very specialized equipment can be seen in action. “If I had to characterize the products on display at this event, I would say they are primarily used for underwater protection, surveillance and topside monitoring via RF and satellite. Specifically, training will be offered on tethered and untethered underwater vehicles, side scan and multi-beam sonars, water velocity meters, software to integrate and display data in a user friendly manner, automatic water sampling equipment, state of the art research vessels…basically if you have an underwater asset that needs to be watched, protected and serviced, the equipment to do all of that will be on hand”, said Maggie Merrill, 4th OTW Manager.
