Port of Rotterdam Selects PIERS for U.S. Ocean Trade Data

Friday, December 06, 2002
Commonwealth Business Media, Inc. announced that Rotterdam Municipal Port Management (RMPM) has agreed to purchase from PIERS, a provider of global commercial intelligence, a complete record of U.S. ocean trade shipped through Northern European and Mediterranean ports during the years 2001-2002. The PIERS information to be supplied to RMPM includes detailed data on shippers, points of origin and destination, cargo descriptions and estimated values of all U.S. exports to Europe during the last two years. Charged with managing and developing the nearly 26,000-acre (10,500-hectare) port and industrial zone in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, RMPM will use the PIERS information to benchmark the port's competitive performance, to guide its marketing efforts, and to plan new capacity and facility improvements. Bill Ralph, president of PIERS, said, "The RMPM is a recognized pioneer in automated container throughput and state-of-the-art multimodal hub facilities. PIERS is honored that the Port of Rotterdam has chosen our global intelligence solutions to support the continued growth and innovation of the world leading Port of Rotterdam."
