Senator Murray and Operation Safe Commerce

Senator Murray (D-WA) issued a News Release in conjunction with the arrival in Tacoma of a container shipment tracked by Operation Safe Commerce. While Operation Safe Commerce is an important tool in the protection of maritime commerce and while Senator Murray has done much to bolster funding for this program, her claim to have “created” the initiative reminds one of then-Vice President Gore’s assertion that he invented the Internet.
