Shipbuilding and Repair Presence Primorye

Thursday, July 19, 2007
Far Eastern Center for Shipbuilding and Shiprepairing is being created in Primorye. The Primorsky Territory Administration hosted a meeting dedicated to this new center.

RF President Aide Alexander Burutin and Primorye Vice-Governor Pavel Popov took part in the meeting dedicated to creation of OJSC, which was held in the Primorsky Territory Administration. As the Administration reports, this open joint-stock company (OJSC) will be a sub-holding within the United Shipbuilding Corporation, which is now being founded on the initiative of the RF President Vladimir Putin. The United Shipbuilding Corporation will consolidate leading state-owned enterprises of this industry in order to optimize their structure and to enact a unified strategy for development of shipbuilding and ship-repairing in Russia.

The Far Eastern Center for Shipbuilding and Ship-Repairing will be based in Primorye, but it will unite enterprises not only of Primorye, but also of the Khabarovsk Territory and Kamchatka. On the first stage of reorganization, the fully state-owned Scientific Research Institute "Bereg" will enter the sub-holding. On the second stage, once they are privatized, the Far Eastern Zvezda Plant and ship-repairing plants #179, 92, and 30 of the Defence Ministry will be included into the Far Eastern sub-holding. The Dalzavod will enter the sub-holding when the bankruptcy proceedings are finished.

The Primorsky Territory Administration has created a work group on creation of this Far Eastern Center. It is comprised of representatives of the RF President Administration, the Primorsky Territory Administration, Territory divisions of federal authorities, and FSUE "Rostekhinventarizatsiya." The work group's task is to minimize the time of privatization of the enterprises that will become part of the sub-holding. It is also important to prepare the statures of the new joint-stock companies, to set up corporate governance, and to define the development strategy for the sub-holding.
